Program Description:

This is a 4 days cityscape workshop designed for anyone who wants to completely create their personal needs with guided individual attention and a multitude of different approaches, techniques, practices, and theories in the creation of cityscape paintings. Students will paint in oils from photo references (provided by Hsin-Yao/or your own choice) on each day. We will cover from the basic technique and explore atmospheric perspective, discussing the importance of shapes by studying different lighting situations such as rainy days, strong sunlight, the twilight sundown mood of the city. We will also focus on simplifying your composition and how to capture mood in your work. Developing expressive style through mass, value, texture and color. Understand edge control and chroma, using expressive and bold brushwork to control your composition and create dramatic cityscape paintings. Hsin-Yao will do demonstrations each day and work with you on an individual basis. The first half of the day Hsin-Yao will paint from a photo to demonstrate his process from start to finish. The second half of the day the students will paint along with Hsin-Yao’s guidance and assistance.

All skill levels from beginner to advanced are welcome to participate
